Cicero is a dense, working town just west of Chicago, built up with brick bungalows, two-flats and small frame houses on narrow lots, with industrial land along the rail lines. The ground is the same flat glacial lake clay found across the near west side, firm when dry but slow to drain and heavy when wet.
